Arrow Guitar Hero 5 DLC Won't Work in World Tour

While Rock Band owners could continue to purchase and play newly released DLC songs even after Rock Band 2 hit stores, it turns out the same won't hold true for owners of Guitar Hero World Tour once Guitar Hero 5 comes out. Speaking to Destructoid, an Activision rep confirmed that new songs won't work in the older game.
"Guitar Hero 5 downloadable content will be compatible with future Guitar Hero and Band Hero games. However, the advancements and innovations made to the franchise do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour," the rep said.
The impediment comes down to certain new features in Guitar Hero 5 that will be built into new DLC songs, which means they won't be possible to play in World Tour -- namely, things like "band moments," Expert+ drumming, and vocal star power. It's similar to how DLC for The Beatles Rock Band won't work in other Rock Band games, due to exclusive features like harmony singing.
