Default Ultimate Guitar Hero Player Contest

Here at GHF we are going to try something new.....

We're going to give away great monthly prizes (cash, games, gift cards, etc) to the most creative Guitar Hero videos.

Here are the Rules:

1) Videos must be unique. Sorry, you can't steal that 10 year old's ultimate Guitar Hero Video off of YouTube and submit it as your own.

2) You must state your first name and username here at the forum prior to starting your video. This way we know who you are.

3) Follow the directions below to imprint your video with the GHF logo before you upload it to YouTube, or whatever other video site you choose, to help promote the site and give it a GHF flavor of its own.

4) The videos must be PG rated. Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought they could play their favorite song in the nude and get away with it.

5) There must be 50 entries for the contest to be valid each month. If there are not 50 entries in a given month, those entries will carry over to the following month and 1 (one) prize will be given out. For larger prizes we will specify larger entry requirements.

6) For cash prizes you must provide a valid PayPal email address to accept the prizes. If you wish to claim a cash prize in another format you will incur certain fees. (i.e. shipping and processing fees) For prizes that arent cash and must be sent you, you must provide a shipping address for the prize to be sent. You will be asked for this upon winning a given contest.

7) You may submit multiple videos. Once a video has won, it will be entered into our Hall of Fame and cannot be used again for future contests.

8) We reserve the right to add or subtract from these rules as improvements are suggested or thought of by our staff.

9) Enjoy and GOOD LUCK!!

Please read the first response to this thread for directions how to "watermark" your video.

Watermarking Your Video

In this part, I'll show you how to place a watermark in your video for the entire duration of the video. You will need this program, virtualdubmod and the watermark below.

1. Download the watermark image

Please download the GHF logo here:

Right click and select save as

Please note:
It is imperative that you save as a .BMP, as these are the only file formats virtualdubmod will accept for watermarks.

2. SET UP VIRTUALDUBMOD

Open Virtualdubmod, go to File > open video file:

Select your source video and press the Open button.

You should now have something similar to the following:

Go to Video > Filters:

You will then get a new window like so:

Click the Add button, scroll down to the logo filter:

Click OK.

You should now have something similar to the following:

Press the button to the right of the Logo image field and select your watermark image.
Tick the enable per-pixel alpha blending using alpha channel tickbox.
Leave the Use premultiplied alpha tickbox ticked.
Tick the use gray channel of secondary image for alpha channel tickbox.
Press the button to the right of the Alpha image field and select your watermark image.
Leave Opacity at 100.
Click the BR button under the Justification area
Then enter 12 for the X offset and 42 for the Y offset.

After doing the above it should look like this:

Click the Show Preview button, and you should have something similar to the following:

Click OK, and then OK again.

Now go to File > preview filtered:

You should now see what the new video file will look like on the right hand side.

Go to File > save as, specify your output filename, and click the Save button.

Now that you have saved your file with our watermark upload it to which ever video service you use then post the video in the thread which the contest was posted.

If you have any problems with anything please post here, this way if others are having the same problems they can find answers. We hope to build a FAQ as we go to prevent problems. If your problem is unique we will PM you to help.....or to do the file for you.
